Is a stomp grate needed for a HJ 212? Does a stomp grate restrict water intake? The boat is run on rivers 99% of the time.

I have a friend that has a 12 degree 2005 Nahanni, AT 309 pump, a Kodiak 383 stroker with a supercharger. Top speed is about 42 mph @ top rpm of 41 - 4200.
